Very Good Large Antique Mark V. Marshall Royal Doulton Grotesque Stoneware Vase

A really good large antique Doulton stoneware vase. By the great Mark V. Marshall – one of the top modellers of his time specialising in grotesque and fantastical pieces. Two different grotesque masks to the body embellished with sgraffito work. Measures 10.25 inches/26cm tall. Perfect condition with no damage, in the images you can see there is small scratch through the mark which was done when the clay was still green, seconds are uncommon but always deliberately scratched through with an’X’. Just to be sure I ran it past the former curator of the Doulton Museum who agreed with me that it was an accidental scratch rather than a cancellation. Fully signed for MVM to the underside.
