A Magnificent Doulton Lambeth Vase Decorated with Running Deer-Hannah Barlow
For sale today we have this Superb Early Doulton Lambeth vase by Hannah B Barlow. The broad based vase features a very well executed sgraffito panel of a running herd of Highland Deer. Artistically realised, the Deer are set against a moorland scrub background with birds wheeling above. Due to the shape of the vase the Deer are much larger than usual with plenty of impact. The borders are stiff leaves, scrolling foliates with two bands of applied flowers set against a stoneware ground. Stands 12 1/2″ tall x 8 1/2″ across 30 circumference! Stamped with a Doulton Lambeth oval mark, dated 1874, incised HBB. In superb condition, being free from any damage or repair-There is a small indented firing flaw (from manufacture) to the rim that I have shown in the last pic. Weighs 3.3 kg without packaging.
