ANTIQUE DOULTON LAMBETH COMMISSION VASE FRANK BUTLER 1887. Height 19cm, Diameter 13cm. Doulton Lambeth with impressed makers marks. A flat surface glaze chip to the outside top rim. Offered on behalf of a private collector is this rare antique Doulton Lambeth art pottery vase made as a private commission and modeled as a sack with scrollwork panels with initials and dated 1887. This heavily made stoneware vase is of rounded bulbous shape with four decorative panels carved around the body incised with scroll work designs with a front panel incised OCT MJE and dated 1887 while the initials AH are signed to a panel on the reverse side. The vase has been modeled as a sack with a narrowing neck and a shaped and gathered top rim. The vase is decorated in shades of brown and blue with salt glazed panels with relief moulded designs in between. The vase has an impressed Doulton Lambeth mark to the base along with incised monogram for Frank Butler along with assistant marks for Rosina Brown and is also dated 1887.
