Doulton Lambeth Art & Crafts Stoneware Jardiniere Planter Pot – Compton Interest. This charming & very good Doulton pot is a rare thing to find. Doulton made an awful lot of examples of the popular late Victorian & Edwardian art movements. You can find plenty of high Victorian, Art Nouveau & the Aesthetic movement but rarely did they stray into the Arts & crafts designs of makers like Compton. The look of this Jardinaire is very much inspired by the work of Archibald Knox & is terracotta planters for Compton. The mark on this pot puts it right at the same time & I would be surprised if they were not an inspiration. This is the only example of this design I have ever seen & its a rare opportunity for a collector. This object (as shown in the picture) stands roughly 20. Cm wide (8 inches), 17cm tall. In antique vintage condition. Signs of age & wear. There is some wear to the applied plaques & a tiny knick to the base. Please study the images for how it presents.
