A large Doulton Lambeth stoneware jug by Florence Roberts and Emily Partington for the Art Union of London. The jug has lovely decoration of flowers and leaves. The Doulton Lambeth marks are on the underside, along with the model number 4787 and the Art Union stamp. In excellent condition, no issues. Emily Partington is listed as Senior Assistant from 1882 to 1912. Her decoration techniques included the relief modelling of flowers, along with the more standard ones of incising and carving. She collaborated with several of the leading artists, especially Hannah Barlow. The Art Union of London stamp are, indicates that it was produced in a series and specially selected for members of the Art Union, whose subscription brought them access to important art wares from many sources including Doulton. Size: 19 cm high, 16 cm across the handle, 12 cm diam; weight 750 g. Please view the pictures, they complete the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash. The item will first be wrapped bubble before packing securely in a solid box with lots of peanuts – earthquake proof. Just occasionally this could extend to 2-3 days, however.
