1895 Solid Silver Top Match Striker, Doulton Lambeth Silicon Base. Full English Silver Hallmarks for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd, C. Full makers marks to the body for Doulton Lambeth Silicon. The silver lid is full Hallmarked and lifts off with a silver swing handle. The body is black and rough to the touch. I do not think the top has ever been cemented into the body, the handle was used to lift the lid when a match needed striking. Condition is antique item in very good condition, no faults found to the body, the silver had minor rubbed makers mark but this is still seen and identified, the date marks are more clean and easily seen. LARGE early Royal Doulton Lambeth Oil Lamp Circa 1869-1872
A very fine and extremely rare Doulton Lambeth oil lamp complete with original metal fittings and early Doulton back stamp and what is believed to be a Hinks Duplex Burner. The lamp is completed with the original funnel and a charming frosted blue and white fluted edge lamp shade. In extremely good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration having been carried out to the main body of the lamp although there is a dent to the base of the burner as shown. The Hinks Duplex Burner is not marked as such but bears the lettering “Made in England” to the two wick adjusters. However the Burner does appear to be identical to the Hinks burners. This is a truly stunning and decorative example and measures 71 cm in height. Please note that the items I sell are vintage/antique and by their very nature may show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and use. A scarce and early Doulton Lambeth stoneware jug with an incised foliate design and stunning glaze. To the base is an early impressed Doulton Lambeth mark with the impressed date – 1875 – also present is the incised artist mark for Emily J. Edwards, Emily died at an early age and examples of her work are rare. 20.5cm High, Diameter 12cm (maximum including handle) – 7.5cm at the foot.
