Doulton Lambeth Rare Antique Match Strikers set of two
Doulton Lambeth Antique Match Strikers. Great condition, dosent look like they have been used for purpose. They belonged to my late grandparents who used them as plant pots. Superb antique Doulton and co Improved bread pan circa 1880
Super circa 1880 Doulton and Co improved bread pan. These were made in various sizes I think from no 1 to no 5. This is the no 4 so a large example measuring 13″ high by 14″ diameter. In excellent original undamaged condition. Has the incised Doulton and co Lamberth mark to rear and no 4 for the size and lovely transfer printed name and reg number with floral design to front. No damage or restoration whatsoever. One picture shows a small firing fault to rim but this in no way detracts. Has a lovely I think elm lift up lid which I do not think is original but has been with it for a long time. Think these originally had a stamped tin lid. The elm has a crack to one side due to slight age related warping but again this in no way detracts. Super rustic original item in lovely condition. This listing is for the most beautiful pair of antique Doulton Lambeth candlesticks that date from the Victorian period. Most likely by Jane Hurst. These are stunning, and very hard to come by. I have never seen this particular design before. They are a matching pair, with a rich blue glaze and ribbed cream body. The detailing on these is lovely. THIS ROYAL DOULTON “LAMBETH” STONEWARE VASE HAS A BALUSTER SHAPE WITH A TEXTURED TAN AND BROWN MAIN CENTER BODY, WITH SHINY DRIP BLUE GLAZE ON FOOT AND NECK. MARKED ON BOTTOM WITH 1902-14 MARK USED AT LAMBETH LONDON POTTERY. ALSO HAS DECORATOR’S CIPHER, PLUS SHIELD MARK WITH LETTER DATE, BUT I CANNOT READ. THERE IS ANOTHER PARTIAL “DOULTON & CO” MARK AND SHAPE MARKS, SEE PICS. 14 3/4″TALL, 7″DIA. AT WIDEST, 6 1/16DIA. OPENING, 5 1/4DIA. IT IS IN AS FOUND CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. Superb Signed Royal Doulton Vase By J. This vase looks absolutely stunning when on display, hand painted by one of royal doultons prolific decorators, john hughs plant was a experienced painter of landscapes country scenes castles and cottages, and worked for famous potteries such as wedgwood before moving to royal doulton in 1901. This vase comes in excellent condition apart from a small scratch which can be seen in photo 8. But displays beautifully, please see all photos to appreciate this stunning vase. Full doulton stamp to base in green with THE TWO BREWERS PONDERS END, design numbers. This beautiful vase stands 15cm tall. Who ever buys this stunning vase will not be disappointed. On the night of Monday 30th September 1940, the German Luftwaffe were flying over the Lea Valley, probably looking to target the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock. Instead, several high explosive bombs were dropped over Ponders End. Hearing the air-raid sirens, drinkers at a public house on the corner of High Street and South Street took shelter in the pub’s cellar. Unfortunately, the bomb went straight through the building and exploded in the basement. Twenty people were killed that night, but only 17 bodies were recovered. One person who was pulled out alive lost both his legs but survived, while another died in hospital a day later. The Two Brewers was destroyed and never rebuilt, the site standing vacant for decades. At the time of the bombing Cliff Short was a 14-year-old boy who lived in Lincoln Road. He was a runner for the fire brigade and was one of the first people on the scene.
