Doulton Lambeth Pair Harvest Hunting Jugs English Stoneware Rare Cobalt Blue
For the collectors of Royal Doulton and English Stoneware, particularly with a hunting and rural theme. Size – The taller of the jugs is approximately 16cm in height, the smaller is approximately 14cm. Condition – Overall good for both jugs, the smaller one does have a small chip to the rim. This is shown in the photos. It’s wonderful to find antiques which remain stylish long after they were made, these’Doulton Lambeth’ jugs are great examples. The impressed’Doulton Lambeth England’ and pattern numbers tell us they were made in 1900, just before the factory became’Royal Doulton’. These jugs are regularly known as hunting and harvest jugs because of the pictures across the body. They give us an image of rural life in 19th century England. Featured are hunting dogs, a windmill, a stag, drinking men and hunters. A superb pair which are going to look the part on a shelf or table top. The cobalt blue colour is uncommon compared to the more typical brown. A great opportunity to snap up a pair. Please ask if you have any questions. You can visit my other listings to see other antiques, curios and collectables. This item is in the category “Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Decorative Cookware & Tableware\Jugs & Pitchers”. Doulton lambeth column slater rare English pottery blue brown Suggs Gas Light
Doulton lambeth column slater rare English pottery blue brown. A lovely piece very rare and from what I can find out about it not many made the photos do more for it than I could ever say I lovely piece for any collector I have put this as collection only just due to how delicate the item is I would hate for it to be posted and break the fact that I believe it to be about 100 years old – collection Bournemouth. Does have some wear but very little as you can see from the photos and would expect for something if the age. Please note the photo from above they are water lines but Look to have been there I’m guessing sometime opposed to being cracks! Just looked at the photo so thought I would confirm it isn’t cracks! Any help on the artist and any more about it would be greatly appreciated. Any questions just ask. Just been told it’s a Suggs gas lamp (please reference a search engine to show how it was back when originally produced). One for most collectors. Doulton Lambeth salt glazed stoneware dish by Agnete Hoy, 1952-1956
Size: 20.8 cm (8 inches) in diameter. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration. This dish is the work of Agnete Hoy, the primary artist at the Doulton Lambeth studios in its final few years before its closure in 1956. Hoy, Danish by birth, had studied at the famous Copenhagen School of Art and worked at Bullers in Stoke on Trent when she first came to England, moving to Doulton in 1952. Her work fused some of Doulton’s famous techniques with her Scandinavian influence, and this dish is a good example. The simple design and muted tone belie considerable technical artistry in the dish. The sgraffito border on the inside of the dish together with a simple band around the outside, has a slightly different slip fifinsh before the overall salt glaze firing, which results in a lifting of the whole design. The salt glaze finish achieved is lustrous and refined. On the base are the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark, Agnete Hoy’s impressed signature, an impressed number 5 and two incised assistant’s marks.
