LOVELY PAIR of DOULTON LAMBETH EARLY 20th. CENTURY’ NEW STYLE’ VASES
LOVELY PAIR of DOULTON LAMBETH EARLY 20th. CENTURY’ NEW STYLE’ VASES. These are a lovely pair of Doulton Lambeth stoneware vases made at the Doulton Lambeth factory and date, I would guess, to the early 20th. Century (probably just before or just after the first world war). They are depicted in a shouldered ovoid vase form with wide everted necks and rims standing over a small trumpet feet with fine sprigs (applied) of tubelined floral decoration and bead work in a checker board design on a ground of mottled blue, while below is mottled sap green. These really are a lovely pair of new style Doulton art pottery with lovely foliate decoration and in fine condition. The bases have the above mentioned’Doulton’ marks and painted’ca’ for (I would guess) Christine Abbot – for all see photographs. They measure 8 3/4″ (22cm) H x 3 1/2″ (9cm) W across the belly approx; and are in really excellent condition with absolutely no defect at all to report – again see photographs and details. ?? Unusua, L Very Rare Royal Doulton (lambeth) Artware Arts & Crafts Chamber Stick
UNUSUAL, VERY RARE ROYAL DOULTON (LAMBETH) ARTWARE. ARTS & CRAFTS CHAMBER STICK. This is a very unusual stoneware chamber candle stick designed in the Doulton Arts & Crafts manner which dates, would guess, from the very late 19th. Century to pre WWI (or just post war). In a raised sided cylindrical form with an angular handle and raised sconce it is depicted with a nice mauve mottled glaze and polychrome abstract painted images outlined in black to the outer and a mottled blue to the inner. It’s not back stamped, however I have no doubt this is a Doulton piece as it came with a nice collection of quite unusual Doulton pieces, some of which I’m listing this week – see photographs and details. It measures 3″ (7.5cm) h x 6″ (15.5cm) Dia. Across the base approx; and is in excellent condition with no defect at all to report. This is a wonderful rare and unusual piece of period Arts & Crafts Doulton Lambeth stoneware which is in great condition and with a low start price should get considerable interest from all Doulton collectors. The red you can see on some of the photographs is wax – obviously the last candle used. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored.
