Hannah Barlow Royal Doulton Lambeth vintage Victorian antique horse & stag jug
Vintage Victorian antique item, circa 1870’s. Decorated with a scent of a horse and stag. Inscription reads: “The fable of ye stag and ye horse”. 14cm in diameter and 26cm high. A rare and attractive item but please note that there is a small chip in the rim which has been neatly restuck in place, please see photographs. Huge Rare Royal Doulton Joseph Mott Hares Fur Oriental Glaze Vase, 15.5 c1935
[EJ05] A huge and rare Royal Doulton Lambeth stoneware vase designed by Joseph Mott with an oriental crystalline glaze referred to as “Hare’s Fur”. Ref: Irvine & Eyles “The Doulton Lambeth Wares” p. Impressed Royal Doulton mark and number “869”. A real statement piece, it stands approx. 15.5/39.3cm tall, weighs a hefty 4.1kg and looks much better in life than in my images. It is in excellent original condition, guaranteed damage and restoration free, just the odd minor surface scratch. There are a couple of “run” lines to the finish down one side from manufacture. Royal Doulton Lambeth Slaters Patent Baluster Vase
A beautiful Royal Doulton Slaters Patent vase. This piece is almost entirely covered with a glittering, gilded pattern of flowers and leaves in pale yellow and turquoise. Glazed mouth and lip. It’s difficult to capture the lively, dancing glint of the gilding over the surface of this lovely vase in a still photograph. 11.5 inches tall, the top rim is 3.5 inches in diameter outside to outside, the base measures 2.5 inches in diameter. Exellent antique, the only exception being a faint hairline at the rim which proceeds downward measuring just shy of one (1) inch. Please see photos as I have included close ups to review. Exhaustively marked as Royal Doulton often is. The “Doulton & Slaters Patent” mark was in use from 1886 – 1914, and the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark along with the numbers “110” and other symbols. A fine pair of Doulton Lambeth faience vases, painted by John P. Both vases, beautifully hand painted with semi naked girls, posing in diaphanous drapes, whilst standing, bare foot on grass. The rims, with continuous bands of floral scroll, on gilt grounds, the bases, with a continuous lappet motif. One vase signed J. Monumental Royal Doulton Lambeth Vase Hannah Barlow Cattle and Horses c1888
Very Large Royal Doulton Lambeth Vase – Cattle and Horses c1888. Highly impressive Hannah Barlow vase depicting incised decoration of cattle and horses. Exhibition quality, this amazing vase measures 21.5 tall and is extremely heavily potted (approx 13kg). The incised decoration is complemented further by fine intricate decoration to the base and neck which makes the overall display of the vase truly stunning. The base bears the impressed stamp for the Lambeth studio, dated 1888 and artist assistant markings. Could this mark be for Eliza Simmance… The quality of the craftsmanship would certainly suggest a very competent hand? The Barlow mark can be found on the base and also within the main body decoration. Exceptional Doulton Lambeth Oil Lamp Hannah Barlow c. 1882
An extremely rare Doulton Lambeth Hannah Barlow oil lamp complete with original fittings and Hinks Duplex Burner. The body is sgraffito decorated with goats in a landscape scene and is dated 1882 to the base of the oil reservoir. Very Rare Doulton Lambeth Oil Lamp – Beautifully Detailed Goats – Hannah Barlow – c. A very fine and extremely rare Doulton Lambeth oil lamp complete with original metal fittings and Hinks Duplex Burner. Surrounding the sgraffito decorated main body are a herd of finely detailed goats in a landscape scene. Above this sits the oil reservoir – in our opinion possibly decorated by Lucy Barlow – and the lamp is in working order if required. To the base of the oil reservoir is the Doulton Lambeth Rosette mark and the impressed date – 1882. We have not endeavoured to remove the base plate as we believe it is common sense not to do so. 46cm high – without glass, 70cm high – with glass, maximum width at base 22cm, unpacked weight 7.5kg. The piece has at some time been converted for electricity – this has been sensibly done between the metal base and the bottom of the vase and not by drilling into the body – no damage or detraction to the stoneware. There are two small restorations to the lip of the stoneware oil well – these cannot be seen when the reservoir is mounted on the base. The glass funnel and cover are not original but are tasteful replacements. Otherwise in good antique condition. An exceptionally rare item for the serious collector.
