A Rare Doulton Lambeth Victorian Period Jug by George Hugo Tabor. Dated 1881
For sale today we have this seldom seen Stoneware jug by George Hugo Tabor for Doulton Lambeth. This conical form jug is decorated to it’s entirety with a deeply incised foliate design hat puts me in mind of the more architectural plant forms, with kind of scrolling leaf tips. In between these are more usual softer leaf forms, with banding to tie in with the handle terminals. Glazed to greens, blues and treacle. Measures 16 cm tall and 14.5 cm “tip to tail”. Stamped Doulton Lambeth mark, dated 1881. Incised GHT 775 and assistants as shown. George Hugo Tabor pieces rarely come to the market and this one is in excellent condition being free from any chips, cracks or repairs. A striking addition to your collection.
