Antique ROYAL DOULTON LAMBETH SLATERS PATENT LARGE JARDINIÈRES Pair 2 Gold Blue

This pair of antique Royal Doulton Lambert Slaters Patent Large Jardiniers are a beautiful addition to any indoor pottery collection. Made of durable stoneware, these round planters feature a stunning floral pattern in shades of blue and gold. The backstamp is impressed and the item height is 21cm, while the item width is 26.5cm. This fine large Royal Doulton Slaters Patent stoneware jardinière is of bulbous shape and with a beautiful flared and fluted rim. The jardiniere has a top and bottom band of striking deep blue glaze which flanks a central band of Slaters Patent green and sky blue enamel and gilt floral decoration. If interested in one please message me. To the base there are impressed factory marks: “ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND” AND “DOULTON & SLATERS PATENT”. There is a painted pattern number “X5746″. Born in 1844, John Slater was the Art Director at Doulton & Co, Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. He was involved in the development of many of the special glazes and techniques including Doulton & Slaters Patent. This process involved the use of lace fabrics impressed into the surface of wet clay, to produce a distinctive floral decoration. Once the clay dried to biscuit form, the lace fabrics were then removed and the resultant impressed patterns were gilded and hand enamelled.
