Mckenzie Art & Design. Add to favourite sellers. Doulton Lambeth Aesthetic Movement Art Pottery Vase by Emily Edwards 1875. A rare and exceptional Doulton Lambeth aesthetic movement stoneware vase decorated with stylized motifs by renowned designer and decorator Emily J Edwards and dated 1875. Emily Edwards was the first woman designer and decorator at Doulton Lambeth and specialized in carved and incised foliate designs. She was only at Doulton Lambeth between 1871 and 1876 and her work is consequently much rarer than other Doulton Ware designers and artists. This unusual vase combines the skills for which Edwards was renowned. The vase stands on a narrow round foot with a squat wide rounded body, pinched neck and trumpet shaped opening with an incised double rim. Organic carved forms interspersed with small flower heads with the central band formed with small beaded edge panels containing a stylized bent over shrub with a single floral bloom. These are carved in high relief with similar patterns around the upper edge and with a band containing stylized leaf designs around the lower body. The vase is hand painted in tones of brown and blue with white beading and has an early Doulton Lambeth mark incorporating the date 1875. The vase has incised makers marks for Emily J Edwards and assistant marks for Emma Martin. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. Condition: The Vase is offered in excellent condition. All items are wrapped in specialist protective tissue paper protecting the surface of all antiques and collectibles and then in layers of bubble wrap secured with FRAGILE marked tape. All items, where appropriate are surrounded using appropriate soft fill chips, biodegradable whereever possible, and help make the contents safe and free from impact risk. All edges of boxes are fully taped and all are finished with FRAGILE warning tape. Multiple Items On occasions clients may wish to order a number of items being delivered to the same address and we will ensure that these are packed into a single or multiple boxes ensuring that the safety of the contents is not jeopardised. If this is not possible we will ensure that the client is advised of when to expect dispatch of their item. We always expedite using the most efficient and effective service. He founded McKenzie Art & Design to handle the sale of his vast collection. Today the business is a LAPADA accredited member and Frank enjoys sharing his life-long passion with dealers and interior designers worldwide and has also developed relationships with private collectors across the globe.
