Doulton Lambeth Faience 1879 Glazed Stoneware Floral Vase READ
This beautiful floral Antique Doulton Lambeth Faience bottle vase is a stunning piece of art pottery that will enhance any collection. With a lovely floral pattern in multicolor and a textured surface, this vase is a true masterpiece. It was manufactured in 1879 in the United Kingdom and is an original, handmade piece. At the time of its production Doulton Lambeth had pottery studios in London and in Lambeth. This piece is well over 100 years old. There is a hairline crack on the neck of the vase. This hairline is barely visible however it is present. This large antique English hand painted floral vase also has crazing on some of the petals where the glaze was heavily applied. The bottom of the piece also shows minor crazing. All of these things are to be expected in a vase that is 145 years old. All of its imperfections are not visible to the human eye unless you are searching with a magnifying glass. The colors are stunning and very eye-catching. I especially like the cobalt blue background with the white dots. I could not find another vase like this online and many of the pieces done in the Doulton Lambeth’s art studio at that time were originals. Doulton Lambeth was the first factory to establish an art pottery studio in the late 1870s. It made beautiful ornamental, stoneware and earthenware pottery. Studios were in Lambeth and on High Street in London. Note: It is in my opinion that this vase should NOT be used to hold water or flowers. Doing so would only degrade the vase. I did wash the interior and it did hold water for a short Period of time. This vase is NOT water tested. This vase is a piece of Art should be treated as such. The vase has Moriage and hand-painted floral details, making it a unique and valuable addition to any home decor. It is a perfect choice for those who love the Victorian era and the art Nouveau style. The antique vase is impressively crafted with high-quality stoneware material and is an original production of Doulton Lambeth Faience.
