Water Jug being offered. Centre advertising “Dewars Whisky”. Stylised branch work, within field of figure and animal reliefs. Green glazed neck and scroll. Back stamped and impressed on base. Superb antique Doulton and co Improved bread pan circa 1880
Super circa 1880 Doulton and Co improved bread pan. These were made in various sizes I think from no 1 to no 5. This is the no 4 so a large example measuring 13″ high by 14″ diameter. In excellent original undamaged condition. Has the incised Doulton and co Lamberth mark to rear and no 4 for the size and lovely transfer printed name and reg number with floral design to front. No damage or restoration whatsoever. One picture shows a small firing fault to rim but this in no way detracts. Has a lovely I think elm lift up lid which I do not think is original but has been with it for a long time. Think these originally had a stamped tin lid. The elm has a crack to one side due to slight age related warping but again this in no way detracts. Super rustic original item in lovely condition. THIS BEAUTIFUL JUG COMES WITH A PIERCED NECK SHOWING A BAND OF TINY HOLES BELOW A MOULDED RIM WHICH INCORPORATES A SERIES OF SMALL CYLINDRICAL TUBES. IT COMES WITH AN ELEGANT C-FORM HANDLE AND A FOOTED BASE. Rare Royal Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar Playing Card Motifs c. 1910
Scarce Royal Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar – Playing Card Motifs – c. A scarce Royal Doulton Lambeth tobacco Jar with applied playing card motifs to the main body and the lid. To the base is the impressed Royal Doulton Lion mark and a painted artist mark – the same mark is also to be found to the underside of the lid – that we have been unable to identify. 15cm high, 14cm across at widest point, 8cm at the base. The lid has been professionally restored to a good standard – mentioned for accuracy are two tiny losses to the glaze at the inner rim of the main body. A rare themed piece that displays superbly. Totally perfect and beautiful piece of Doulton Lambeth stoneware in lovely shades of brown, tan, mink and cream. Clearly marked to the base Doulton Lambeth Silicon, with the addition of 88, aa or BB and the letter itt or ltt or similar. The mark dates this planter somewhere between 1881 and 1891. Measures 6 1/4″ 16 cms high with the aperture at the top having a diameter of 6″ or 15 cms. Diameter at the widest point measures approximately 9 inches or 23 cm.
