UNUSUAL LARGE ROYAL DOULTON (LAMBETH) ARTWARE’ NEW STYLE’ VASE by JANE HURST
UNUSUAL LARGE ROYAL DOULTON (LAMBETH) ARTWARE. NEW STYLE’ VASE by JANE HURST? This is an unusual, large, stoneware vase designed in the Royal Doulton’New Style’ which dates, I would guess, to pre-WWI (or just post war) and designed by Jane Hurst Joan Honey, Vera Huggins??? – I’ve always had problems working out who’s who, anyone have any idea?? In a large elongated ovoid form with a wide everted rim, it is depicted with unusual large stylised images (which typified the New Style) of sprigged mint green Mandala / Lotus like medallions inside blue teardrop shaped cartouches, while between are blue applied flower heads and above blue and green bands. It is back stamped with the Royal Doulton impressed mark as well as Hurst’s again? Monogram, plus other marks – see photographs and details. It measures 9 3/4″ (25cm) H x 5″ (13cm) Dia. Across the shoulder approx; and is in excellent condition with no defect at all to report.
