DANTE POTTERY PLAQUE SIGNED CHARLES NOKE 1890. Height 16,5cm, Width 13,5cm, Depth 5,25cm. Charles Noke, possibly made at Doulton Lambeth. A rare and unique art pottery sculptural plaque finely moulded in relief with a shoulder length portrait of Dante signed Charles Noke and dated 1890. The oval shaped stoneware plaque is heavily potted and of irregular shape and decorated in brown flow glazes which have gathered to form darker elements. The bust is hand carved with excellent sculptural detail and has an incised signature Chas. Noke 90 to the front. Possibly made at Doulton Lambeth the plaque has a hanging hole to back and is unglazed and unmarked. We cannot and will not declare items below the sale value.
