Doulton And Watts Nelson Antique Jug 1820-1854
This superb jug has been expertly crafted by Doulton Watts, the original company that became Royal Doulton eventually. The backstamp was only used between 1820 until 1854. Potentially this jug is almost 200 YEARS OLD. The process of making this jug was obviously a hand-made trade and this includes many clay folds which can be mistaken for cracks and chips. In saying that, some of these imperfections could be cracks. The jug stands 19.5 cm (7 3/4) in height. Please look elsewhere and you will see this is a great price for such an old jug. For sale today we have this Stunning Doulton Lambeth Art Nouveau Vase by Senior Artist Francis C Pope. This tall square form vase features a deeply carved relief design of a brightly coloured bird high up in a tree tree of life? The tree has a blooming flower to it’s centre while the leaves are of the spade/ heart shape form so beloved of the Art Nouveau/ Arts and Crafts movements. The design is repeated to all 4 sides. Stands 9 ” tall x 3 ” square. Bears a Doulton Lambeth stamp. Incised FCP 8066 for Francis Pope. An Exquisite Doulton Lambeth Preserve/ Honey Pot with Silver Plated Lid & Spoon
For sale today we have this Exquisite Doulton Lambeth Victorian Period Preserve/ Honey Pot. An incredibly well decorated pot with a sharply incised scrolling foliate design that flows around the entirety of the piece. The base border is geometric, while the top border is further foliates, both highlighted with applied swirls and beads. Finished off with an ornate silver plated lid and handle and supplied with an associated spoon. Stands 16 cm tall x 9 cm dia. Bears a Doulton Lambeth stamp. Incised senior (numbered 442) artist mark that I don’t know, along with Harriet E Hibbut as assistant. Doulton Lambeth Saltglaze Stoneware Jug Frank Butler. Mythical Beast Handle
A really fabulous Doulton Lambeth saltglazed stoneware art pottery jug by leading artist Frank Butler. The piece is beautifully decorated all over the body which has been divided into bulbous segments by the use of vertical beaded borders. Each segment features raised flower heads with spiralling bands of beads, stylised floral forms and coloured in a typical mix of Doulton blues and browns and greens. What makes this piece so special is the frilled top rim and the handle – modelled as a mythical creature with flowing mane and double tail. Unfortunately, the head of the creature is missing. There is also a chip to the rim. Also, a slight crack to the creature’s mane – this does not affect the handle underneath. A skilled restorer could return this piece to former glory. Doulton Florence Barlow Lambeth Stoneware Vase
THIS VASE DEPICTS A LARGE FINCH WITHIN FOLIAGE. MONOGRAMMED FEB ON THE BASE (FLORENCE ELIZABETH BARLOW). MONOGRAMMED ES ON THE BASE (ELIZA SIMMANCE). ASSISTED BY RB (ROSINA BROWN). HEIGHT : 25.5 CM APPROX. Florence Barlow died at the age of 53 and is buried with her sister Hannah Barlow in plot no. 31050 in West Norwood Cemetary, London. The numbers adjacent to Florence and Eliza’s monograms are the numbers they produced in numerical order during that year. These numbers were then entered into a ledger with a short description. Doulton Lambeth Saltglaze Stoneware art pottery Candlestick Griffins 1879
A superb antique Doulton Lambeth saltglaze stoneware art pottery Candlestick. The candlestick rises up in segmented form from a square box shaped base – each corner of the base guarded by a Griffin with spread wings and puffed chest. The clawed feet of each beast stand on the four balled feet. Decorated in an all over elaborate mix of designs using typical Doulton muted blues, greens and creams. This is an exceptionally rare item – looks great on display – and can therefore be excused some areas of damage. There has been a break in the centre of the stick. Three of the Griffins have minor chips to their plumage. One has further damage to its foot and the nearby base rim. I have tried to show all this in the photos which need to be viewed to assess damage. Height – 21.5 cms. Fully marked to base.
