Item: An impressive Doulton Lambeth, Pate Sur Pate decorated vase, likely to have been made for the Royal Society of British Arts exhibition Circa 1883, beautifully hand decorated with a Seagull group scene which covers the entire body, in a pate sur pate technique by Florence Barlow with the border decoration by sister Lucy Barlow. Fully signed by Florence to the body and incised marks to base as shown. 54.0 cm, 540 mm. Condition Report: Excellent condition- minimal wears, some ground marks but as shown, displays beautifully. A Rare Doulton Lambeth Aesthetic Movement Vase with Birds by Hannah Barlow
For sale today we have this delightful and extremely rare Aesthetic period vase by both Hannah B Barlow and Emily E Stormer. The vase features a seldom seen Hannah Barlow design of beautifully detailed birds swooping and perching within branches and tall corn stems. Emily Stormer’s borders feature incised stylised foliates with geometrics, all highlighted with applied rosettes and beadwork. Glazed to striking blues and greens (pic 9 & 10 are the best colour likeness). Stamped Doulton Lambeth mark with date 1877. Incised HBB 391, EES 496. Extremely Rare Doulton Lambeth Novelty Owl Oil Lamp c1880 Excellent Condition
I was told the metal brass? Lamp part was original and it certainly fits perfectly, with a new cloth wick, I was also told the glass shade part was original, fits perfectly and of the period with slight imperfections in the glass. It is in Excellent condition with NO chips or cracks or restoration or other damage of any kind, cant even see any crazing. The glass lamp does have a line near on base but you cannot feel this from the outside so probably just a tiny imperfection. It is such a cute little piece at roughly 22cms in overall height, roughly 12cms in length and the owl measures roughly 7cms in height and marked with impressed marks to the base as shown. This is an absolute must for any collection and displays really really well.
