A scarce Doulton Lambeth vase by George Hugo Tabor – Impressed and incised factory and artist marks to the base and date stamped for c. Scarce Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Vase – George Hugo Tabor – c. A rare Doulton Lambeth vase by George Hugo Tabor. The vase which sits on a rounded foot has a bulbous body that is decorated with an incised foliate design that is Art Nouveau in appearance – applied in three places around the centre of the vase are circular classical head medallions in slight relief – seperating the body and the neck are bands of applied and carved decoration with the broad neck giving way to an everted opening – the neck itself is decorated with a further incised foliate design. To the base is the impressed Doulton Lambeth rosette mark along with the impressed date – 1884 – and the incised mark for Tabor along with various assistants to include: Elizabeth J. Adams, Alice Barker, Alice Ellis, and Eliza Stock. The vase is in good antique condition with some high quality professional restoration to an area of the rim and neck (a feint hairline is apparent on close inspection to the inside of the neck in the restored area) – this does not detract from this exceptional vase which displays superbly.
