SUPERB RARE, EARLY, DOULTON LAMBETH VASE by FRANK A BUTLER
SUPERB, RARE, EARLY DOULTON LAMBETH VASE by FRANK A BUTLER. This is a rare, early, stoneware vase designed by one to the Doulton factory’s leading artist/designers Frank A. Butler and was decorated by’BN’ for Bessie Newbury at the Lambeth works in the latter 19th. Century (low model number). It is depicted in an inverted teardrop form with wide foot and lip rim, fine intricate applied graduated beading and decorated with a tube lined stylised floral motift. The base is stamped with the above mentioned Doulton Lambeth mark and pattern number, as well as Butler’s and Newbury’s hand inscribed monograms plus various other marks – see photographs and details. It measures 6 1/2 (16.5cm) H. X 4 (10cm) W approx; and is in excellent condition, with no defect at all to report – see photographs and details. This is a wonderful rare early piece of period Doulton Lambeth stoneware by one of their very best designers with a superb image which is in good condition and with a realistic, yet still low start price should get considerable interest from all Doulton collectors. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored.
