A DOULTON LAMBETH VASE Antique George Tabor 1881-1889 XL POSSIBLY UNIQUE

They have said it is a piece of Doulton Lambeth from the late 1800s in the style of George Tabor. As you can see from the other George Tabor piece c1884 (see photos) not for sale here, it has the same long thin leaves coming in from the top and bottom, and very distinctive small flowers around the bowl and rim. George Tabor was known for foliate designs. The opinions I have gathered that say’it wouldn’t have left the factory unmarked’ are as follows. It has no flaws, but maybe something didn’t turn out how Tabor wanted? This expert’s opinion I disagreed on because it would have still been marked before it was fired. 2 A test piece. I don’t know if Tabor, or Doulton Lambeth ever did unmarked test pieces? 3 A piece that went home with someone from the factory, or Tabor himself? Anyway, hopefully these scenarios can only make this piece even more rare, valuable and desirable, especially if it is a’one-off’. If this’is’ a test piece as an expert told me, and is a unique one-off that didn’t go into production, then it has been undervalued at this price, even though it seems expensive. This piece will probably end up in the U. George Hugo Tabor worked for Doulton Lambeth for only a short time between 1881 and 1889, and as a result his pieces are already rare and valuable. Examples of his work are considered superb quality. Some other Doulton is a little rough up close. Tabor designs are finished neatly and crisply. It stands 30cm tall. A large statement piece.
