A good antique pair of DOULTON LAMBETH spill vases 8409 MISPRINTED DOYAL DOULTON
A good antique pair of DOULTON LAMBETH spill vases 8409 MISPRINTED DOYAL DOULTON. These are a beautiful pair of Art Nouveau Royal Doulton Stoneware Spill Or Cylinder Vases circa 1900 – 1910. The base of each vase is impressed with the usual marks and Pattern Number 8409 BUT weirdly both are marked “DOYAL DOULTON”? It originally operated as Doulton from Vauxhall, London later moving to Lambeth. In 1820 Doulton opened a factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent the centre of English Pottery. It was in 1901 that King Edward VII awarded the Royal Warrant to Doulton and the right to use’Royal’ on the name of its products. As discovered in a recent country house estate clearance.
