A Very Rare Doulton Lambeth Rabbit decorated Pitcher by Florence Barlow. 1874

For sale today we have this Rare Early Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Pitcher by Senior Artist Florence Barlow. The loop handled jug features an utterly charming sgrafitto design of rabbits in varying poses framed by a scrolling band of leafy branches. A stiff leaf border to the collar and ovals to the handle. Clearly made before the Barlow sister’s agreement that Florence should decorate solely with birds, rabbits by Florence are very rarely seen. Fully marked to the base with a Doulton Lambeth “oval” mark with date 1874. Incised with the early angular “FEB” for Barlow, assistant as shown. Stands 8 3/4 ” tall x 4 3/4 ” dia. A captivating jug that is presented for sale displaying beautifully, while it has had restoration to the top rim- otherwise perfect.
