An exceptional Doulton Lambeth stoneware art pottery’poets’ vase very much in the style of the Martin Brothers. The body is superbly incised with grotesque type decoration – look for the faces concealed within it – there are three central panels celebrating the famous British Poets: Burns, Keats, and Scott. The impressed Doulton Lambeth rosette mark is present to the base as well as the impressed date mark – 1882. There are incised artist marks for Edith Rogers and assistant artists Rosina Brown and Augusta M. In good antique condition without chips, cracks, or restoration.
