In very good condition’smaller than average’ (5in/13cm) ewer in traditional Doulton Lambeth style,, signed by Elizabeth Atkins. The only imperfections I can see are round the spout where there are scrapes and very tiny chips (see photos) that have been there for a very long time. And some crazing under the spout. Beautifully hand painted in blue and white on a mottled brown glaze background. It has the incised monogram of Elizabeth Atkins and the letter t This mark, adapted from a similar Lambeth mark incorporating a device of four interlocking D’s was introduced c. 1882 (not 1879 as was once thought). After 1891 the word ENGLAND was added underneath. The mark continued in use until 1902.
