Huge 4 gallon dairy creamer pouring vessel by Doulton of Lambeth, earthenware

RARE 4 G A L L O N C R E A M E R. A huge four gallon stoneware/earthenware dairy creamer by Doulton & Co. This large vessel has two useful handles and a large pouring lip. It was most probably used in a dairy, farm or commercial environment. A heavy solid item, it weighs approaching 9kg. The front bears the makers stamp and the number 4: indicating four gallon capacity. It would also be great as an unusual planter. Date: 1860 – 1870. The vessel is watertight despite having a hairline crack at the back and it still has a good’ring’ to the rim. There is also a small chip on the very bottom edge.
