Lovely Royal Doulton Hand Incised & Painted Vase
LOVELY ROYAL DOULTON HAND INCISED & PAINTED VASE. This is a wonderfully hand incised and painted stoneware vase made at the Lambeth works from, I would guess, the first decade of the 20th. Century to the end of the First World War. In a depressed bellied form with blue shoulder, neck, and collar it is depicted with a hand painted and inscribed image of a beautifully realised rural landscape with shepherd and flock seen between trees. The base has the above mentioned impressed Royal Doulton mark and “LB” maybe L. Bowen hand inscribed monogram and other marks – see detailed photographs. It measures 6 3/4″ (17cm) H x 6″ (15.25cm) W approx; and is in very good condition with only some factory done pinhead bald spots / popped glaze bubbles to the base rim to report There are no other chips, cracks, or restoration – again see photographs and details. This is a lovely, rare piece of period Royal Doulton (Lambeth) ceramics that’s in great condition and with a low start price should attract a good deal of attention from all collectors.
