RARE DOULTON MINIATURE MARK V. MARSHALL DESIGNED BIRD – 1905. THIS IS A WONDERFUL AND I WOULD THINK VERY RARE STONEWARE MINIATURE FIGURE OF A BIRD DESIGNED BY ONE TO THE DOULTON FACTORY’S LEADING ARTIST/DESIGNERS MARK V. MARSHALL AT THE LAMBETH WORKS IN THE FIRST DECADE OF THE 20th. CENTURY (I THINK 1905 – SEE BACK MARK). IN A STYLISED BIRD FORM IT IS DEPICTED IN A DEEP COBALT BLUE WITH THE HIGH POINTS IN A LIGHTER SHADE TO GIVE IT A FURTHER THREE DIMENSIONAL EFFECT. THE BASE HAS THE ABOVE MENTIONED IMPRESSED ROYAL DOULTON MARK AND THE’D’ NUMBER’2417′ (1905) – SEE DETAILED PHOTOGRAPHS. IT MEASURES 3″ (7.5cm) H x 2 3/4″ (7cm) L APPROX; AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF VERY TINY FRITS TO THE RAISED RIM AROUND THE LEFT EYE TO REPORT (ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK LARGE IN THE PICS , IN REALITY ARE HARDLY NOTICEABLE), APART FROM THIS THERE ARE NO OTHER CHIPS, CRACKS, OR RESTORATION – AGAIN SEE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DETAILS. Monumental Royal Doulton Lambeth Vase Hannah Barlow Cattle and Horses c1888
Very Large Royal Doulton Lambeth Vase – Cattle and Horses c1888. Highly impressive Hannah Barlow vase depicting incised decoration of cattle and horses. Exhibition quality, this amazing vase measures 21.5 tall and is extremely heavily potted (approx 13kg). The incised decoration is complemented further by fine intricate decoration to the base and neck which makes the overall display of the vase truly stunning. The base bears the impressed stamp for the Lambeth studio, dated 1888 and artist assistant markings. Could this mark be for Eliza Simmance… The quality of the craftsmanship would certainly suggest a very competent hand? The Barlow mark can be found on the base and also within the main body decoration. The condition of the vase is excellent and is free from any defects or repairs and would grace any Doulton collection. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further details. Three Doulton Lambeth stoneware jugs. Issued in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee (60 years) of Queen Victorias Rein there are two panels on each jug showing the Young & Old Queen. I have three sizes in this set 9” by 7” spout to handle, 7” by 6 1/4” spout to handle & lastly 6” by 5” spout to handle. The largest is hard to find & does not come up very often. These are all free from restoration but the smallest has a chip to the rim as pictured. A good and rare Doulton Lambeth Bibelot of a Mouse clutching his food and stood on a rocky base over a pond like enclosure – the colours of this one is very good probably rare colourways as the mouse is all over dark brown (and not the usual mottled colour). Good Antique Condition – little to none crazing – looks unused – a very good clean example light reflections in images. Stamped Doulton Lambeth marks underneath – initials FN and 8678. 4 inches (10cm) height X 3.5 inches (9cm) dia approx. Doulton Lambeth Jug With Verse Commemorating William Maccall C. 1888
DOULTON LAMBETH JUG WITH VERSE COMMEMORATING WILLIAM MACCALL C. Height 19,5cm, Diameter 12,5cm. Doulton Lambeth, by Elizabeth Atkins with impressed marks. This stylish stoneware jug stands on a narrow rounded foot with a slightly recessed base and is of rounded bulbous shape with a trumpet shaped top with a shaped pouring spout and loop handle. The body of the vase is decorated with four relief moulded portrait panels each within a sunburst design with the verse applied in relief around each portrait. The verse reads STRAIGHT IS THE LINE OF DUTY, CURVED IS THE LINE OF BEAUTY, FOLLOW THE STRAIGHT LINE THOU SHALT SEE, THE CURVED LINE EVER FOLLOW THEE. The verse is from the works of William Mccall. The jug has contrasting brown colours set against a natural salt glazed finish and has impressed Doulton Lambeth marks along with artist marks for Elizabeth Atkins with assistant marks for Eborah Bissmire and further unidentified marks.
