RARE, EARLY, DOULTON LAMBETH HAND SCRIMMED ART NOUVEAU VASE by FRANCIS C. POPE

RARE, EARLY, DOULTON LAMBETH HAND SCRIMMED ART NOUVEAU VASE. This is an early Art Nouveau stoneware vase designed by Francis C. Pope and decorated by Florrie Jones at the Lambeth factory dating, I would guess, to the first decade of the 20th. It is depicted in a shouldered tapering form with a trumpet neck and rim and decorated in a fine and intricate hand scrimmed images of a stylised floral motifs inside hand incised Art Nouveau / Celtic knots on a sponged blue / turquoise mottled ground. The base is stamped with the above mentioned Doulton Lambeth factory marks, as well as Pope’s and Jones’s monograms other incised marks – see photographs and details. It measures 10″ (26cm) H x 4″ (10cm) W approx; and is in excellent condition with no defect at all to report – see photographs and details. This is a wonderful rare early piece of period Doulton Lambeth stoneware which is in great condition and with a low start price should get considerable interest from all Doulton collectors. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored.
