A stunning Royal Doulton Mark V Marshall Thistle Jug. Cream ground for the main body and brown for the top and bottom. Stylized thistles and leaves in deep blue and brown. Markings on the base are “Art Union of England” 9012 MVM (Mark V Marshall) 688’t’ and LB. This is a spectacular example with no cracks, chips or restoration work. Mark V Marshall was quite possibly the most original designer in the history of Doultons. He worked at Doultons from 1878 to 1912, and from the beginning of his career there, his imagination was unrestrained. The diversity of his output was amazing and his work is without a doubt one of the most desired of the Doulton artists. The jug measures 27 cm in height.
