Offered for sale is this charming Harry Simeon for Doulton Lambeth The Best Is Not Too Good Toby Jug, made of salt glaze coloured stoneware. It is the style five X8588 with a sombre face, eyes open, left hand holding lapel, no pipe, plain handle, blue jacket, green waistcoat, brown breeches and green hat. As far as I can tell this is an unrecorded colourway and I cannot find another one like it. 3.75 inches tall and 3.75 inches diameter at the base, and are offered for sale in very good condition with no chips or cracks. It does have crazing on the inside (see photo). It is fully marked on the base with the Doulton Lambeth impressed stamp and the number 8588.
